The second Summer Camp was held from June 27, 2022 to July 15, 2022.
Summer Camp
What can you expect during this program?
-
- Flying a drone over an area to provide aerial images that can be used in GIS!
- Learning more about how you can help the community through environmental action with Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and the Friends of Broderick Park!
- Scavenger hunt across D’Youville‘s campus and beyond
- Submitting a local 311 call to the Division of Citizen Services of the City of Buffalo!
- Learn how to create a StoryMap utilizing maps and other multimedia!
- And much more!
Program Information
Location
Accessing the HUB
There are two entrances to enter the HUB:
- Intersection of West & Connecticut St – Enter through the sliding doors
- Entrance facing the parking lot (D-Lot) – Enter through the sliding doors
Elevators & Stairs
To reach the Center for Health Equity and Inclusion you may take the stairs or elevator:
- If you entered from the corner of West & Connecticut St:
- Elevators are located to the left by the Pharmacy- Be sure to select the third (3) floor
- Stairs are located towards the left down the corridor past the Cafe and D’Lish Kitchen
- If you entered by the Parking Lot entrance:
- Elevators are located down the corridor past the D’Lish Kitchen and Security Desk on your right – Be sure to select the third (3) floor
- Stairs are located towards the left down the corridor past the Cafe and D’Lish Kitchen

Equipment
A laptop and wired mouse will be provided to you during the duration of the program. These laptops cannot be taken home.
Transportation
Transportation will be provided to you via the Cedar Bus Company. You will be provided with approximate pick up times for each day of the camp. More details will be provided prior to the start of the camp.
Travel & Appropriate Dress for Field Trips
There are three field trips scheduled the last two weeks of the Summer Institute.
We will travel to these locations on the designated days with an arrival time between 8:45am and 9:00am. Activities at these sites will start at 9:00am sharp.
*** Please be sure to eat breakfast beforehand! Only lunch will be provided on field trips.
- Wednesday, August 4th – Red Jacket Riverfront Park (20 Smith Street, Buffalo, NY 14210)
- Friday, August 6th – Broderick Park (1170 Niagara St, Buffalo, NY 14213)
- Wednesday, August 10th – Buffalo Sewage Treatment Plant (90 W Ferry St, Buffalo, NY 14213)

Appropriate Dress
For these trips we ask you dress accordingly! We suggest comfortable, closed-toed shoes and casual clothes as we explore our community.
Community Service Hours
For those students who are looking to gain community service hours toward graduation, please bring the required form from your school and coordinate with the team. We will help you with any required information about the summer camp!
