The Institute for Teaching Innovation (ITI) was established in December 2017 with the goal of supporting faculty members at D’Youville College and establishing the college as a leader in college teaching. Dr. Leah MacVie was hired to establish and lead the institute shortly before its inception.
The ITI is dedicated to improving the accessibility, experimentation, and promotion of innovative teaching practices. It will provide professional development for DYC faculty across all career stages and disciplines. Currently, the ITI is concerned with exemplary pedagogy, technology-infused instruction, outcome-based assessment, inclusive strategies, faculty research and scholarship, and faculty wellness. For each of these concepts, we are concerned with the accessibility of information, experimentation, and publishing on our learnings.
Besides a commitment to advancing teaching and learning at D’Youville College, the ITI will offer programs and resources for all those interested in collegiate teaching excellence.
