Hi Faculty,

As mentioned at the last Town Hall meeting, I’m writing to announce the release of a new resource to help you prepare for the upcoming Fall semester, our “Fall 2020 Instructional Continuity” Canvas course. This resource came out of conversations with many parties, including the COVID-19 Working Group as well as discussions with Faculty Senate President Jeremiah Davie.

The Online Learning and Information Technology teams have worked together over the last month to develop this comprehensive, self-paced training resource for faculty. The course covers nine of our standard College-support technologies, including but not limited to Canvas, Proctorio, Panopto, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Office365. Each module has a short (< 3-minute) overview video in which Jamie and Humberto introduce the tool and provide tips and strategies. In addition to the overview video, you’ll find helpful tutorial videos as well as step-by-step guide to implementing the tool in your course. The course will automatically appear in your Canvas dashboard in the next day or two.

To ensure everyone is prepared for whatever the Fall semester may throw at us, we are requiring all faculty to complete the course prior to the start of the semester (Aug 23rd). For some this will be a simple refresher, for others it may take more time to go through the material. After completing the course, we simply ask that you complete the survey at the end. This will provide us feedback for improvement while also serving as a record of completion.

I want to personally acknowledge the individuals who put this tremendous resource together. Thank you to Mark Alicea, Kristin Benoodt, Bob Grabowski, Joe Gunnells, Humberto Hernandez, Pam Lindell, and Jamie Tabone.
