The subject of this email is a nod to the classic story of The Wizard of Oz which showcases how to navigate through an unusual and mysterious land – much like we’re doing during the COVID-19 situation – and although I don’t have any ruby slippers that will get us back to normal simply by tapping my heels, I do have some helpful information related to books, readings, and research:
BOOKS: Barnes & Noble has closed their store fronts in an attempt to flatten the COVID-19 curve but services are still fully available to students. Should you need to order a text book you can do so online at https://dyc.bncollege.com/shop/dyc/home and get free shipping to your house. If you are on or near campus and the book is in stock in the store, Laura – our store manager – will come to the College Center to process the order and contact you on how to arrange pick-up. Laura will be monitoring her email daily if you have any questions about ordering books and/or returning rentals at the end of the semester. She can be reached at: email@example.com
READINGS: In addition to traditional book orders, Barnes & Noble is offering free access to eTextbooks for the remainder of the Spring 2020 term through their partnership with VitalSource. To see if an eText is available for your course, you simply need to create an account using your @dyc.edu email address at the following link and the “purchase” page should come up as free for ordering: https://bookshelf.vitalsource.com/#/user/signin
RESEARCH: The lower level and 4th floor of the Library remain open for use with swipe card access. The Librarians at the Research Desk offer research assistance through email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via remote consultation by phone.
