from Ona Halladay – Director of Athletics
Dear our dedicated D’Youville Student-Athletes and Coaches,
It is with great regret and sadness that the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, North Eastern Athletic Conference, and D’Youville have decided to suspend all winter and spring sports effective immediately. This very difficult decision was made in light of the recent announcement from the NCAA cancelling all winter and spring sports championships due to the ever-changing uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus. These sports include; Women’s bowling, Men’s Volleyball, Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Rowing, Baseball, and Softball. Also, all club sports and sports in non-traditional seasons are not permitted to practice or compete for the remainder of the Spring semester.
It is the top priority of D’Youville Athletics to ensure that our student-athletes health and safety is at the forefront of all our decisions which is why we believe that in this tumultuous time, this is the right decision to make. As always, the department of athletics will continue to be here to support you in all ways. We will be in communication with you regarding any reinstatement of eligibility decisions made by the NCAA for those student-athletes effected by this decision.
Finally, please stay tuned because I will be back in touch to share additional information about our end-of-year celebration. It is my greatest hope that we will be able to come together soon to recognize the hard-work, dedication and tireless spirit you’ve shown to D’Youville Athletics. Go Spartans!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.
